Frequently asked questions
Is YouCode really free?
The YouCode Beta and local/open-model path are free. You still pay for hardware, electricity, your VPS and any external service you choose to use.
Is it only for coding?
No. Software building is one capability. Agents can also research, create documents, work with data, use email/calendar connectors, call APIs and automate office tasks.
Do I need an AI API key?
Not for local/open models running on your connected PC or VPS.
Can agents act automatically?
Yes within the tools and autonomy you grant. High-impact external actions require approval by default.
Does Gmail work immediately?
Generic IMAP/SMTP email is supported. Gmail OAuth is only considered active after YouCode configures and approves the required Google OAuth client.
